Jaclyn Moore is Boycotting Netflix - Who is the Trans Producer?

Transgender producer Jaclyn Moore is boycotting Netflix following the controversial jokes made by Dave Chappelle in his latest Netflix special The Closer.

People who have taken issue with Dave Chappelle's new Netflix special, The Closer, include showrunner Jaclyn Moore.

Jaclyn stated in a tweet that she has decided not to work with Netflix following the premiere of The Closer, which apparently contains "transphobic" sentiments.

The Closer premiered on Netflix on Tuesday (October 5) and has already sparked media debate due to its divisive nature.

Who is Jaclyn Moore?

Dear White People's Jacyln Moore is one of the show's creators. The transgender showrunner has also written a few episodes of the popular program.

She had formerly written for several television shows, including Difficult People, Must See TV: A Tribute to James Burrows, and Crowded, before becoming a producer.

Jaclyn has worked on series such as Graves, Queen America, and Love Life. According to Jaclyn's social media postings, she transitioned amid the COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the world in 2020.

What Did the Trans Writer Say About Dave Chappelle's Comedy?

Jaclyn Moore posted on Instagram shortly after The Closer aired, blasting it for its transphobic themes. She also tweeted a similar sentiment and stated that she was "done" with the company.

Jaclyn elaborated on Dave's remarks in an interview with Variety. She stated that she would prefer to express her displeasure with Netflix for airing the comedian's show than have him canceled.

Moore admitted she "never loved" Dave's work before watching The Closer, but it felt strange. She went on to say that she was weary of her perception becoming a point of contention.

When asked if Dave should stop creating jokes about such sensitive topics, Jaclyn said:

I don’t think it’s my place to tell Dave Chappelle what he needs to do. He should make the jokes that he wants to make. I cannot like them and that’s what I’m saying here.

Needless to say, Jaclyn Moore is anything but pleased witnessing Dave Chappelle's latest show.
