Tyler Henry Opens Up About Brain Cyst Removal, Memory Loss, and Healing

Tyler Henry Weight Gain 2026: Brian Surgery & Health Issues

Celebrity medium Tyler Henry has spent much of the past year navigating a series of serious health challenges that tested both his body and his resilience. The star of Hollywood Medium and Life After Death with Tyler Henry has been open with fans about multiple brain procedures, temporary memory struggles, and the need for extended rest. At the same time, recent public appearances have sparked online conversation about changes in his physical appearance, including noticeable weight gain that many attribute to post-surgical medications.

Born in 1996, Henry is now 30. His medical history with brain issues stretches back more than a decade. Shortly after turning 18, an MRI revealed a congenital brain cyst that required emergency surgery following weeks of severe headaches. That early experience set the stage for the complications that resurfaced in 2025.

Brain Surgeries and Immediate Aftermath

In May 2025, just days after marrying photographer Clint Godwin, Tyler Henry underwent surgery to address a colloid tumor near the center of his brain. He described the non-cancerous growth as having an extremely rare incidence rate and shared that most of it had been successfully removed. The procedure left him on bed rest for about a month, though he returned to performing readings relatively quickly and noted that reduced inflammation actually sharpened his mental clarity.

Symptoms of swelling returned in the following months. In November 2025, his husband announced that doctors recommended another operation to deal with the recurring cyst and related fluid buildup, also known as hydrocephalus. This marked Henry’s third brain surgery overall. By early December, he posted an update confirming the cyst that had been with him since birth was finally fully removed. He called it an “unwanted roommate… now evicted” and reported a great prognosis, while emphasizing that recovery required significant rest and the rescheduling of events through February.

The latest surgery brought temporary but intense side effects. Henry later described feeling “like a goldfish,” able to retain only about ten minutes of short-term memory for a period of roughly two weeks. He also spoke of an out-of-body experience during the procedure and temporary difficulty recalling autobiographical details, including who his parents were. Memory improved steadily, and he expressed gratitude for the outcome. In more recent conversations, he has reflected on how the complete removal of the rare, previously unidentifiable growth left him both relieved and still somewhat mystified by its unusual nature.

Weight Changes and Ongoing Recovery

Alongside the surgical updates, fans have commented extensively on Tyler Henry’s changed appearance in recent interviews and public sightings. Many noted that he looked fuller-faced and heavier than in previous years, with some specifically mentioning visible bloating. Comments on social media frequently linked the shift to common post-brain-surgery medications such as dexamethasone, a steroid used to control swelling that is well known for causing fluid retention and weight gain. Henry himself has not issued a detailed public statement addressing the weight change, focusing instead on healing and his return to work.

Throughout these challenges, Henry has maintained a tone of cautious optimism. He has repeatedly stressed that the physical and mental demands of recovery remain real even when the prognosis is positive. Supporters have rallied around him, celebrating both the successful removal of the long-standing cyst and his determination to resume readings and live events. As he continues to heal, the emphasis remains on rest, gradual return to professional commitments, and the quiet relief of finally being free from a health concern that had weighed on him for years.
