Heartstopper: Is Kit Connor Bi Just Like His Character in the Netflix Series?
Kit Connor (@kit.connor) portrays Nick Nelson, who wonders about his sexuality and finally finds he is bisexual, impeccably in Heartstopper. Naturally, fans of the show are likely to ask if the actor is bisexual as well. On the other hand, Connor has remained silent about his sexual preference in public. Despite this, the actor expressed excitement about playing a bisexual character on the show.
In an interview with Metro, he told,
I think male bisexuality is even less represented. It’s a real honor to be able to play Nick because it’s such an underrepresented kind of character, really.
For Connor, playing Nick has been an opportunity to promote the inclusion of LGBT stories in mainstream media. According to Attitude, he claims to believe modern-day media representation is improving, but there are never enough queer stories being portrayed on screen. The Rocketman actor said that he is thrilled to produce a powerful and significant moment that might actually affect a person's life in the same interview he gave to Attitude about Nick's coming out to his mother, Sarah.
In Heartstopper, Connor gives a fantastic performance as an actor. While keeping his personal life private, the actor has been outspoken about the need for more LGBTQ stories to be told.
Therefore, Kit Connor has never revealed anything about his sexuality. All of the rumors about him being gay or bisexual seem to be untrue for now at least, However, we'll update you as soon as we get any official statement from our sources.
Heartstopper: Kit Connor Initially Auditioned For The Role of Charlie, not Nick
Kit Connor, one of the leading cast members in Netflix's Heartstopper, has revealed that he auditioned for the role of Charlie Spring in the LGBTQ+ romance despite not believing he was a suitable match.
Not only do their personalities differ, but so do their physical appearances, with Nick shown as more athletic than Charlie, who prefers to pursue creative and musical interests.
With this in mind, Connor told RadioTimes and other media that he realized he didn't fit the description of Charlie, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to apply for the role because the character's writing was so good. He began by saying:
I originally auditioned in a self-tape for Joe's character, for Charlie, which literally whenever I tell people that they're just like: 'Why? Why would you do that?' It was just a stroke of luck really because I was thinking, especially sending that tape through, the real reason I was doing it is because I knew about the project – I thought it was an amazing project I'd like to be a part of.
The cast of Heartstopper is mostly made up of newbies, with the exception of Rocketman actor Connor and Game of Thrones alum Sebastian Croft.
