The documentary explores the tale of Tim Donaghy, a former NBA official who became involved in a gambling scandal after it was discovered that he was betting on his own games to gain money.

After hearing that the FBI was looking into claims that Tim had placed bets on games he had officiated in his previous two seasons, he announced his resignation from the league in 2007. However, Tim wasn't the only one who was involved in the scandal. Many other NBA officials and referees were also suspected of being involved with Tim and other gamblers.

NBA referee, Scott Foster, was born on April 8, 1967. He is 55 years old as of 2022. Since he was a young child growing up in the wonderful yet edgy city of Silver Spring in Maryland, Foster had dreamed of being a basketball referee.

Foster so put in a lot of effort and managed to serve for six years at local high schools, two at the collegiate Southern/Big South conferences, and another two at the CBA before being selected for the NBA. He joined the elite organization in 1994 as referee #48, the year after receiving his degree from the University of Maryland in 1993, and Timothy Donaghy was right there with him.

Scott Foster and his family are currently residing in Woodbine, Maryland. He presided over the Europe Tour of Germany and Spain shortly after. Foster made a significant breakthrough in 2010 by officiating the NBA All-Star Game. As of now, he has an estimated salary of $550,000 per season.

According to Scott's narrative, he and Tim became friends for 13 years because they were both just young men in similar stages of their lives, at least until Tim's gambling issues became public. He has always claimed that he had no involvement in the illegal affair, which even the now-convicted felon, Tim, confirmed in the Netflix documentary without hesitation.

Despite the fact that Scott and Tim spoke out 304 times on their phones from just December 2006 to April 2007 (just before the controversy surfaced), there was no conclusive proof against the former. Scott Foster was subsequently cleared by the FBI and the private investigator retained by the NBA, allowing him to resume his regular life, his beloved work, and his passions with the exception of one friend.

Despite some public criticism from the public, his subsequent skill and commitment to his work helped allay most of their worries. However, Scott's name is still frequently linked in some way to what he views as the worst incident to ever occur in professional sports.

However, as seen by the fact that Scott Foster continues to work as an NBA referee today, Scott has not (and is determined to not) let any aspect of this betting incident trouble him in the long run. As of this writing, he really has 27 seasons of national association experience, meaning that he has officiated more than 1,500 regular-season games as well as 190 playoff games, 20 of which were championship games.

Additionally, UNTOLD: Operation Flagrant Foul is currently streaming on Netflix.
