Kelsea Ballerini has a very dark story about her weight loss from her belly when she was just a teenager wherein the country-pop singer took diet pills, worked out excessively to the point of passing out, and having to battle bulimia all for the purpose of weight loss.
Kelsea Ballerini is an American country pop singer and songwriter who rose to fame with the release of her debut studio album The First Time in 2014.
She followed that up with her sophomore Unapologetically in 2017 which, along with the first one, accounted for seven of her charted songs on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. In 2020, she dropped two albums Kelsea and Ballerini.

Kelsea Ballerini's Weight Loss and Body Image Issues
Kelsea Ballerini (@kelseaballerini) had never known peace when it came to being secure about her own body ever since she was a teenager.
And the biggest drawback of a career that always put her in the eyes of the public in the spotlight as an entertainer was that it was no help to her insecurity about her physique in a position where she was exposed to the scrutiny from the public.
In 2018, the country singer performed on the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show strutting around in a glam shimmery silver mini-dress. She dazzled even on the red carpet dressed in a little black dress.
All in all, the musical evening with a fashion twist turned out to be a really fun and enjoyable one for Kelsea Ballerini. But that is just until a rando on the internet decided that they would give her a piece of their mind, which, the world would have been better off had they just jammed their fingers and not made their thoughts known.
The faceless troll on the internet essentially dampened the excitement of the night when they commented telling Kelsea Ballerini to undergo weight loss.
Might seem harmless at first, even like a suggestion that's much needed, but to a woman with already strong body image issues even with a fit figure with no extra weight to shed, the suggestion of weight loss was very insulting, damaging, and enabling the perpetuation of the unfair belief that the woman has to be a size zero to consider herself attractive.
The Legends hitmaker was not having any of it. Kelsea Ballerini responded to the ill-intentioned comment by stating that she is a 'normal, healthy chick' which is something she prides herself on and works hard for.
She, who said was responding to the troll not to give them attention but to make it clear that she didn't want other young girls seeing and knowing that skinny is not always the goal, also clarified that she was not a model but a singer.
And what Kelsea Ballerini had in her mind as she was reading that comment about having a weight loss was that it was disgusting for anyone to think they can comment on somebody else's weight.
What the fans learned from this incident is that The Love me like you mean it songstress had evolved in her thoughts about what constitutes a healthy body, which was a much better but difficult change from her previous opinions about bodies that one could be proud of.
Through her poetry book Feel Your Way Through, the I Hate Love Songs crooner had revealed that she had suffered an eating disorder in her teenage years. Kelsea Ballerini wrote in her poem Kangaroo that there was a boy named Jackson who called her kangaroo when she was a freshman in high school because of her belly and little legs. A comment whose reasoning stuck with her which was the origin story of her body image issue.
Getting too self-conscious about her body after she was given that nickname, the Miss Me More singer took extreme measures as shouldn't have by someone that young to lose that weight that earned her the name kangaroo.
The Nashville sweetheart began taking diet pills and working out excessively to the point where it was harming her more than doing her good. The result might have been her end goal of' weight loss' but in the journey, she went through a lot of 'passing out.'
She even suffered from bulimia on top of that. It was only when Kelsea Ballerini turned eighteen that she decided to not continue taking diet pills and work out as if to run for her life, and instead sought help for her problem.
And ever since then, the musician never turned back. Except for the time when she almost had a minor lapse in 2015 when she saw an article, that said 'Ballerini debuts baby bump' pop up, and she momentarily reverted back to the 12-year-old version of me.
But her unlearning those twisted standards of beauty finally gained the upper hand over her old insecurities and she thought to herself that either she was going to get triggered by incidents like this all the time, or she was going to get to a point where she was okay enough to look past it, and settled on the latter.
In an interview, about her attitude towards her body, Kelsea Ballerini said that she had re-calibrated what it meant to look in the mirror and think that she looked healthy instead of thinking she looked fat.
She shared that she didn't work out to get skinny, she worked out to be healthy, and she didn't eat salad to be skinny, she did that to be healthy. There are other things that mattered to her rather than things like she looked skinny in a dress.
