Is Heartstopper Getting a Season 2? Netflix Release Date & More!

Heartstopper on Netflix was able to win the hearts of many viewers and fans are already curious to know if Season 2 of the show has been confirmed. With still seven volumes remaining of Alice Oseman's graphic novel, we still have a lot to know about the show. However, no announcement about the possible season has been made for now. Go through the article to know when Heartstopper Season 2 could be coming out and its possible release date and trailer.

Netflix's adaptation of Alice Oseman's graphic novel, Heartstopper, is one of the year's most appealing new series. It follows the story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a gay high school student who falls in love with Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), the boy he seats next to in his new form, as well as Charlie and Nick's friends Tao, Elle, and Isaac.

Heartstopper was praised by critics for its uplifting viewpoint on discovering one's sexuality, as well as the fact that it is so important to finally witness a romance story like this on-screen that isn't accompanied by a significant portion of trauma.

But is there going to be a second Season 2 of the show? Is there a Season 2 to look forward to for fans? Well, here is everything we know about the announcement of the show in the coming days.

Is Netflix's Heartstopper Getting a Season 2? When is the Release Date?

Regardless, there's a lot of potential for where this goes in Season 2 when Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring choose to open out to the world, with Nick emerging to his caring mother in a similar way that the last credits slid in season one. However, Netflix has not yet announced a second season of Heartstopper at the time of writing.

Nonetheless, the show has received so much widespread praise - not to mention the amount of fan adoration that another season is something the streaming service must seriously consider. If Emily in Paris can receive a second shot, then Heartstopper certainly Season 2.

Fortunately, there is enough more Hearstopper content from which to take inspiration for future seasons. Heartstopper's first season is based on the first two volumes of Alice Oseman's graphic book of the same name; the series contains a total of seven volumes.

In an interview with NationalWorld, Alice Oseman said that she would love there to be future seasons. She added,

There’s definitely room for that in the story. There are more books that we haven’t covered yet. But we’ll just have to wait and see how season one does, I guess.

We can have a clear image of what may happen in Season 2 if they come to reality now that more Heartstopper novels are available. In Volume Three of Heartstopper, Nick and Charlie begin to tell more people about their love (chapter four of the webcomic).

This might imply Nick will have to inform more of his friends and family about his sexuality and it could also mean Olivia Coleman's return as Nick's mother, Sarah Nelson. In the comics, Nick, Charlie, Tao, Elle, Aled, Tara, and Darcy all go on a school trip to Paris, so it's possible that the crew may do the same in Season 2.

Season 2 of Heartstopper will very certainly begin to cover Charlie's eating issue as well. In Season 1, Charlie frequently stated that he was not hungry and did not eat his lunch, referring to this. In Volume Three, Nick begins to notice this, and the book ends with him investigating eating disorders following his vacation to Paris.

As Charlie and Nick grow, Oseman told Digital Spy that if the show receives additional seasons, it would address topics of mental health since that's something that's incredibly significant in the novels.

The first season was shot between April and June 2021, taking only three months to complete, and it was released in April 2022. So, if they start filming this summer, we'll probably be able to watch Season 2 of Heartstopper in June 2023 at the earliest.
