Glenda Cleveland is not alive in 2022. Yes, you read it right. She died on December 24, 2010, at the age of 56. It has been more than 11 years today since she passed away. Her neighbors called the police after they didn't see any movements in her apartment. As soon as the police entered her apartment, they found her laying on the floor. She was announced dead on the spot. Later, medical examinations reported that she died of heart disease and high blood pressure. However, her daughter pointed out her heavy smoking habit was her cause of death.

Glenda Cleveland tried multiple times to alert police about Jeffrey Dahmer's troubling behavior while living in the nearer building as him. She attempted to contact the police once again when Sandra Smith and Nicole Childress, her daughter and niece, saw a naked teenage boy running from Dahmer in the early morning hours of 1991. Cleveland even got close to the victims, but she was unable to interfere and save him.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel stated that they had discovered him escaping Dahmer in an alleyway. Dahmer, however, convinced the authorities that the youngster was 19 years old and that they were dating. Police were informed by Dahmer that the boy was drunk and that they had argued. Later, it was discovered that the youngster was Konerak Sinthasomphone, 14, who ended up being Dahmer's 13th victim.

Days later, Glenda Cleveland discovered Konerak was the young boy Dahmer had claimed to be his boyfriend when she saw his picture in a missing person alert in the newspaper. She called the police once more, but no one picked up. She even contacted the FBI, but they never responded. According to The Sun, five of Dahmer's 17 murders, including that of Konerak, were committed after Cleveland contacted the police about her worries.

Cleveland also maintained contact with the Sinthasomphone family and attended the wedding of one of the sons.

Niecy Nash, who plays Glenda Cleveland in the show, told Netflix that Cleveland was also a victim of Dahmer and that her story needed to be heard. She explained,

When you hear the different things that happen with regard to Jeffrey Dahmer and his victims... Glenda was one of his victims too and her story has been told the least of these. Heavy is the head that wears the crown to tell this story. Glenda Cleveland was a special woman. To continue on, and on, and on in an effort to get someone to do something, she deserved way more than a little cheesy plaque at the bottom of a social hall somewhere. She deserved way more than the police step in front of her and say,
