Benjamin Arellano Félix was among the brothers that led the Tijuana Cartel from its inception in the late 1980s until the early 1990s. After the apprehension of Miguel Angel Félix Gallardo and the dissolution of his Guadalajara Cartel in 1989, the Tijuana Cartel gained notoriety.
Along with his brothers, most prominently Ramón, Benjamin was a key figure in the organization that specialized in trafficking drugs, heroin, and illicit technology across Mexico and the United States.

In April 2012, Benjamin agreed to a plea deal that ended with him receiving a 25-year term in the United States, significantly less than the 140-year sentence he was supposed to receive.

Benjamin Arellano Felix is 69 in 2021 and will be 85 by the time he has fulfilled his term, which is set to conclude in 2037.
Per Bustle, the Tijuana Cartel leftovers are being controlled by their sister, Enedina Arellano Félix, since Benjamin, Ramón, and many other members of the Arellano Félix family are absent.
