Youth Pastor Rob on Young Sheldon: Meet Actor Dan Byrd!

Youth Pastor Rob features on Young Sheldon Season 5. The character is played by actor Dan Byrd. Let's get to know him better.

Television currently is rife with spinoffs. Young Sheldon, the prelude spinoff to the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, is among the elites.

The exploits of 9-year-old genius prodigy Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) as he studies in high school with his older sibling in 1989 are followed by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro's comedy, which is gratifyingly devoid of a laugh track.

Those who have seen TBBT will recognize Sheldon Cooper — expertly portrayed by Jim Parsons — as the incredible theoretical physicist who is absolutely deficient in social skills.

In the debut season of Young Sheldon, Sheldon and his pals were happily playing Dungeons and Dragons when his strict Texas Baptist mother Mary Cooper (Zoe Perry) caught them.

Mary, on the other hand, was horrified because the renowned game contains sorcery, devils, and creatures who are naked. Sheldon was promptly sent to Sunday School.

In Season 5, Pastor Jeff (Matt Hobby) hires a young pastor in the hopes of better bonding with the kids. Both TV viewers and silver screen fans have most likely seen the actor before.

Who is the Youth Pastor Rob on Young Sheldon?

Pastor Jeff fails to explain Biblical stories in an entertaining, kid-friendly manner, so Youth Pastor Rob is sent to assist with Sunday School.

Youth Pastor Rob turns out to be a bonafide cool person who understands how kids' brains work. He just nails different notes, from tossing Bibles on the floor to declaring Judas his beloved disciple to hearing children out for rejecting the Bible.

Dan Byrd is the actor who portrays Pastor Rob.

Why Does Dan Byrd Look Familiar?

Dan Byrd is a rom-com journeyman, having been in films such as 2004's A Cinderella Story starring Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray and 2010's Easy A led by Emma Stone and Penn Badgley. Dan appeared in the aforesaid films as a sidekick buddy of the lead characters.

Dan's professional career also saw him play a teen Bobby Carter in Alexandre Aja's version of The Hills Have Eyes in 2006, which got mixed reviews.

This was his second horror picture, following his role in the 2005 zombie flick Mortuary, which has a dismal Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 18%.

Dan's most well-known role so far was Travis Cobb in the ABC-turned-TBS comedy Cougar Town, which premiered in 2009 and featured Courteney Cox as the leading actress.

Travis Cobb is the astute son of separated parents Jules (Courteney Cox) and Bobby Cobb (Brian Van Holt). Dan's character is not fond of men flirting with his mom in the show.
