Darren Barnet’s Ethnicity: The Never Have I Ever Cast Was Born in America but Belongs to Mixed Descendants; Age, Height, & Instagram of the Paxton Hall-Yoshida Actor!

Darren Barnet (@darrenbarnet) was born in Los Angeles, California, on April 27, 1991. His mother is of Japanese and Swedish origin, while his father is of Cherokee and German ancestry. Standing at the height of 5'10'', the 31-year-old actor plays the role of Paxton Hall-Yoshida in Never Have I Ever. Additionally, the actor was given a Japanese in the Netflix show after he was spotted speaking Japanese with the assistant director.

Barnet grew up next to two sisters, one older and one younger. At the age of 12, he and his mother moved to the Orlando, Florida, suburbs. He graduated in 2009 from Dr. Phillips High School, where he captained the lacrosse team.

While attending Berry College, where Darren Barnet received a Bachelor of Arts, he performed in plays and short films. He had wanted to be an actor since he was five, but he didn't take acting seriously until college. He has studied French and converses in both Japanese and Spanish.

He credits much of his success to his mother's support. Darren learned Japanese for the first time from his grandma, who taught him to count. After that, he spent two years in school learning the language.

Darren Barnet also interacted in Japanese on set with the assistant director of Never Have I Ever, Yuko Ogata. He said that after learning about Barnet's Japanese ancestry, one of the co-creators suggested giving his character a Japanese background in the show. He explained,

They came up to me and said, ‘Hey were you speaking Japanese with Yuko? Are you Japanese?” and I said, “Yes, my mom is,” and they said, “We’d love to incorporate that into your character, do you mind?” And I said, “Of course, let’s do it!” So my character’s name went from being Paxton Hall to Paxton Hall-Yoshida. That was awesome.

Darren Barnet was first concerned that he didn't look Japanese enough to portray a Japanese-American on screen. That, however, changed when he learned that there were other Asian Americans who looked different from how society expected them to.

Darren Barnet was shocked to learn that his Japanese ethnicity was acknowledged. He had previously believed that his mixed ethnicity would stop him from becoming a successful actor. Barnet has also admitted that he formerly felt self-conscious about his mixed heritage since he felt it made him difficult to fit into any category. But now that it has given him more opportunities, he sees it as a good thing.

Before leaving, find out Megan Suri's parents, if Jaren Lewison is gay, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan's net worth, and the real ages of Season 3's cast members.
