Camila Mendes’ Ethnicity & Race: Is the Do Revenge Cast a Latino? Where Was the Riverdale Star Born?

Talking about her ethnicity and race, Camila Mendes is a Latino. Even though the Do Revenge cast was born in America, her parents are originally from Brazil. Hence, it automatically makes a Brazilian-American star. Additionally, she revealed that she faces discrimination in Hollywood as many people believe that she doesn't look Latina enough.

With her latest teen comedy, Do Revenge, writer-director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has reconnected with Netflix after making an impact in 2019 with her stunning directing debut, Someone Great. Do Revenge is focused on the viciousness of teen girlhood, despite the fact that both movies explore the complexities of female relationships. The movie, which features renowned teen drama actors Camila Mendes, from Riverdale and Maya Hawke from Stranger Things, evokes a classic Hitchcock story with the sickeningly delicious aesthetics of a high school vengeance thriller.

Drea and Eleanor, two girls, form a Stranger on a Train-style agreement to hold their bullies accountable for destroying their lives. By the end, things take a darker turn, and both girls find the experience to be quite eye-opening. After everything is said and done, they emerge from it with a lot more positive outlook and a determination to improve the traits that made them dreadful in the past.

Similarly, the Drea actress, Camila Mendes, is no new to our screen. She has gained a lot of fan following with her performance in Riverdale. However, some fans have recently been curious to know more personal details about her. This time, they seek information on her ethnicity. Well, we've got you covered.

Previously, we touched on Camila Mendes’ parents and Maya Hawke's birth chart.

Camila Mendes’ Ethnicity & Race: The Do Revenge Cast, Mostly Renowned as Veronica in Riverdale, Was Born in America but Is a Latino Since Her Parents Are Originally From Brazil!

Camila Mendes (@camimendes) was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on June 29, 1994, to Gisele Carraro and Victor Mendes. The Do Revenge cast's ethnicity is automatically Latino because both of her parents are natives of Brazil. She also has an older sister named Viviane Mendes.

Camila moved to Atlanta shortly after her birth, then went back to Virginia and eventually settled in Orlando, Florida. She moved 16 times while she was growing up, although due to her father's career and then her parents' divorce, she spent the majority of that time in Florida. When she was ten years old, she lived in Brazil for a year. In Plantation, Florida, at the American Heritage School for the Fine Arts, Mendes received his diploma in 2012. Mendes later graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in May 2016.

Camila Mendes, a Brazilian-American who identifies as Latin American, has said that she has experienced discrimination in Hollywood and that when she has gone to audition for roles with Latin American backgrounds, she has been told, "You don't look Latina enough." She explained,

I really appreciate how these two cultures created who I am. I am a Brazilian of blood, with all the extended family of Brazilians, but I was born and raised in the United States. When I go to Brazil, I feel like an American, and in the United States, I always realize the traits that make me Brazilian.

Camila Mendes' first acting role was in an IKEA commercial. Mendes was cast as silver-tongued high school sophomore Veronica Lodge in Riverdale, a subversive interpretation of the Archie Comics, in the 2016 season of The CW's teen drama series. Mendes's agent was The Carson Kolker Organization, which later changed its name to CAA. She also appeared on the covers of Women's Health and Cosmopolitan, respectively, in December 2017 and February 2018.

Mendes' first role in a significant motion picture was Morgan in The New Romantic, which had its global premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in March 2018. Along with Laura Marano and Matt Walsh, Mendes joined the cast of the romantic comedy The Perfect Date in the same month. The movie was released on Netflix on April 12, 2019.

Camila Mendes played the lead in the 2019 release of Coyote Lake. In 2020, she starred in the critically acclaimed sci-fi/comedy Palm Springs, which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and was made available on Hulu in July of that year. She next starred in the Netflix thriller Dangerous Lies, which was also released in 2020.

Moreover, Mendes claimed that while attending NYU, she was roofied and sexually attacked, which motivated her to get a tattoo signifying her resolve to create stability and safety for herself. Talking about her relationship status, Mendes dated photographer and filmmaker Ian Wallace from 2013 to 2017, at which point their relationship ended. From October 2018 to December 2019, Mendes dated her Riverdale co-star Charles Melton. They made a quick reconciliation in June 2021.

Additionally, Do Revenge is now streaming on Netflix.
