Tisha Michelle Campbell (@tishacampbellmartin) was born on October 13, 1968. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, but was raised in East Orange, New Jersey, where she attended the Washington Academy of Music, as well as Newark, New Jersey, where she attended Newark Arts High School.

Mona Shockley, also known as Mona Washington, was her mother and a gospel singer, vocal instructor, talent manager, and nurse. Clifton Campbell, her father, worked as a factory worker and vocalist in addition to coaching underprivileged kids in chess on both the east and west coasts. Her parents (photos here) supported her musical passion from the very early days.

Tisha Campbell also has a younger sister, three brothers who are younger than him, and an elder brother. Campbell claimed that a male family member who was babysitting her when she was three years old sexually assaulted her during an interview in 2014 on the daytime chat show The Daily Helpline.

Campbell made her debut on television at the age of six in a 1974 episode of the PBS show The Big Blue Marble. She won numerous talent competitions when she was younger and went on to make appearances in children's shows including Kids Are People Too, Unicorn Tales, and Captain Kangaroo. She also co-starred with future Martin co-star Tichina Arnold as Chiffon, a member of the girl group Greek Chorus, in the musical movie Little Shop of Horrors when she was just 17 years old.

She moved to Hollywood after receiving her graduation from the Arts High School in Newark, where she rose to fame on the short-lived NBC musical comedy-drama series Rags to Riches (1987–88). Later, she played Jane Toussaint in the Spike Lee-directed musical comedy-drama School Daze.

Campbell's debut album, Tisha, was released in 1992 and had a modest level of success, selling 40,000 copies. Push, which was co-written and produced by Campbell and Vanilla Ice, and Love Me Down garnered modest rotation on R&B stations. In 1997's Sprung, in which she starred, Campbell contributed vocals to the soundtrack by singing a duet of Don't Ask My Neighbor with Tichina Arnold.

Actor Duane Martin and Tisha Campbell got wed on August 17, 1996. Ezekiel Czar Martin and Xen Martin are the couple's kids. After 21 years of marriage, Campbell filed for divorce in February 2018. And then in December 2020, they reached a divorce agreement.
