On July 10, 2016, Seth Rich was killed, and the police initially stated it was an attempted robbery. Jack Burkman, a Republican lobbyist, then offered a $130,000 reward for information leading to Seth's murder. He claimed to be sympathetic at the time to the family's plight due to Seth's name being linked to numerous conspiracies.
However, things changed the following year. Jack claimed that he had proof that the Russians murdered Seth as a result of learning of their role in the DNC email leaks. Jack went on to suggest that the attempted robbery wasn't a reasonable hypothesis and that he learned this knowledge from someone claiming to be a former US intelligence official. Then, Jack's family started to stay far from Seth.
Jack Burkman is reported to be a well-known conspiracist in a number of reports. His protest against the Dallas Cowboys for adding an out player to their practice squad in February 2014 also made headlines. During the 2020 presidential election, Jack Burkman and Jacob were accused of sending thousands of robocalls across many states to discourage minorities from casting mail-in ballots, bringing them into the heated air once more. False claims were made in these calls that voters' mailing-in ballot information may be used to look up past warrants, collect debts, or locate them.
The Federal Communications Commission demanded a $5.1 million penalty in August 2021 from Jack and other parties for the robocalling. According to a 2020 report, Jack is the host of the right-leaning radio show, Behind the Curtain with Jack Burkman, and lives in Arlington, Virginia.
