Welcome to Eden is a new Spanish thriller series that has arrived on Netflix, and is the show you definitely don’t want to miss. It is about a group of young adults who are invited to an exclusive party on Eden, a remote island. They had no idea what awaits them when they woke up in the morning while having the time of their life and drinking to their hearts' delight. Is Eden truly paradise or hell on earth?

One of the characters in the show is Mayka who is the security chief for Eden Foundation. Mayka is played by Lola Rodriguez who is a Spanish actress, model, and LGBT rights activist. Similarly, many viewers of the show have been wondering about Lola Rodriguez's gender. Some people believe she is a trans girl while some believe she is just an ordinary human. Well, let's find out the truth.

Previously, we touched on Blue Eden, and filming locations.

Is Netflix's Welcome to Eden Star, Lola Rodriguez, a Trans Girl?

A trans woman is a woman who was born with a masculine gender identity. They have a female gender identity, may experience gender dysphoria, and may transition; this process typically entails hormone replacement medication and, in some cases, sex reassignment surgery, both of which can provide relief and resolve feelings of gender dysphoria.

Trans women can identify as heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, or asexual, among other words (such as queer). And yes, Lola Rodriguez is a trans girl. She was born a boy, but at the age of 11, she came out as a girl and was recognized as such at school. Though she had problems accepting and coming out in society in the beginning, she represented LGBTQ society admirably.

With help of her parents, Lola began her transition to become a trans girl at the age of 13. She was a psychology student in Portugal before she began performing.

Rodriguez (@lolarodriguez) was the first transgender minor contender for Queen of the Carnival of Las Palmas in 2015, with the dream La vida es bella. She followed in the footsteps of Isabel Torres, the first transgender candidate in 2005. Rodriguez was selected as the fourth maid of honor.

Lola Rodriguez was interviewed by the media and shared her story of being a trans girl from her teenage years. She added to this by saying,

"I was from the age of 11 to 17 without being able to change my name on the DNI. And changing it was tremendous: psychiatrist, psychologist, witnesses, and constant visits to the court to be assessed by a judge who did not even want to see me."

Lola Rodriguez was usually thought to be different than the others. She has, however, always used the opportunity to devote herself to coming to terms with herself. She also wore the Amsterdam Rainbow Dress, a garment constructed from the flags of nations where being a member of the LGBT community is illegal, as part of the Madrid LGBT pride march in 2018.

Similarly, Rodriguez was also cast in Veneno(2018) which is based on the life story of Spanish trans icon Cristina “La Veneno” Ortiz. She portrayed the role of Valeria Vegas in the series who is a Spanish journalist highly active in transgender issues. She increasingly gained self-confidence as a result of her approach to the role. In an interview, she told,

"It wasn’t just playing Vegas that proved to be empowering for the actress; being surrounded by a collective of other trans women on Veneno was a life-giving experience, too."
