Andrew Fuller: Meet the Baker from Sugar Freakshow!

With his dashing green hair and beard and not to mention his baking skills, Andrew Fuller was already fans' favorite baker to win Netflix's 'Is It Cake?' within a few episodes. No wonder, fans were happy to see the owner of Sugar Freakshow being declared winner of the reality show.

Netflix's Is It Cake? is a baking contest that actually takes the term looks good enough to eat to reality. It is based on a famous craze that took over the internet roughly two years ago.

After all, it follows a group of cake decorators as they demonstrate their abilities to create tasty replicas of real-life common goods in the hopes of winning a prize pool of tens of thousands of dollars.

The contestants made cakes that resembled everyday items. The judges chose the cake that was the most realistic and hence the most difficult to guess to be a cake as the ultimate winner of $50,000.

'Is It Cake?,' which premiered on March 18, has a winner: Andrew Fuller. The show's final episode featured his suitcase cake, which celebrity guests Loni Love, Karamo Brown, and Bobby Moynihan said was difficult to guess.

Who is Baker Andrew Fuller? Know More About The Winner Of Netflix's 'Is It Cake?'

'Is It Cake?' is a Netflix reality baking show that featured nine bakers, including Andrew, competing to produce hyper-realistic cakes to please the panel of judges in 2022.

April Julian, Desiree Salaverria, Hemu Basu, Jonny Manganello, Justin Rasmussen Ellen, Nina Charles, Sam Cade, and Steve Weiss were among the participants who joined Andrew in this first season, each with their unique set of abilities.

However, because this was a reality competition, only Andrew, Hemu, and April were chosen for the final round. Their final mission was to deceive the three celebrity visitors, Loni Love, Bobby Moynihan, and Karamo Brown, by placing their cake in front of three actual decoys.

As a result, Andrew created an ornate leather-look suitcase with edible garments spilling out the sides. It also had two different varieties of cakes within.

A white velvet cake with mascarpone cheese, espresso buttercream, and ladyfingers simulating a tiramisu, and a pistachio cake with honey rose buttercream and fig jam on one side, and a pistachio cake with honey rose buttercream and fig jam on the other.

In the meantime, April created a sewing machine with moving parts, and Hemu made a statue cake (which judges correctly guessed, and she was eliminated). Thus, the judges decided that the edible leather-looking suitcase was the winner after a close race between Andrew and April.

Andrew then walked away with the $50,000 grand prize, plus an extra $30,000 for winning the "winner stays on" relay part of the challenge, as promised. He wasn't the only one who returned home with money in his pocket.

Hemu received $10,000 for her efforts in the "winner stays on" competition, while April received $15,000. In addition, Jonny Manganello and Nina Maria Charles each received $10,000 and $5,000.

Where is Andrew Fuller Now?

Andrew Fuller has always described himself as an artist first and a baker second, which makes sense given that he draws inspiration from personal experiences as well as his favorite horror films and directors.

This explains his interest in the macabre, as well as his appearances on Food Network's Halloween Baking Championship in 2018 and Candy Land in 2020. (where he reached the semi-finals).

On Instagram (@sugarfreakshow), Andrew highlights his expertise in hyper-realistic cakes, with a feed consisting of bleeding anatomical hearts, a baby head cereal dish, and other creations.

Andrew continues to live in Des Moines, Iowa, with his husband, their hairless cats, a pet leech, Madagascar hissing cockroaches, and his weird collectibles, according to what we can tell.

Furthermore, his company Sugar Freakshow still hand-makes and distributes his masterpieces (in a 1980s hearse). The baking studio, which is located at 3023 Southwest 9th Street, may soon be available to the public.

We should also highlight that, true to his word, the 42-year-old hasn't changed his green hair in years, but he now has a blueish-purple and pink beard.
