Bad Vegan is a new Netflix original that follows the story of Sarma Melngailis, a star vegan restauranteur whose business empire came crashing down after she met convicted conman Anthony Strangis.

You might think the story is too unbelievable to be true because it includes Sarma being told that all of her craziest wishes could come true and that she and her dog could become immortal.

Anthony, who also went by the name Shane Fox, and Sarma were arrested on accusations of fraud, and their multimillion-dollar scheme came crashing down due to pizza delivery. Fans are curious to know more about the docuseries and its cast. Well, let's find out the cast of the new Netflix docuseries for now.

Previously, we touched on Jeffrey Lichtman's wife and Stacy Strangis' plastic surgery.

Who is in the Cast of Netflix's Bad Vegan?

Netflix described Bad Vegan as a journey weirder than fiction in a YouTube trailer. The four-part film exposes how Sarma Melngailis, the celebrity restauranteur behind the renowned New York restaurant Pure Food and Wine, went from being a vegan innovator to a wanted woman.

The docuseries features interviews with a number of persons who were involved in Sarma's downfall, including Melngailis herself. Bad Vegan includes interviews with former employees who discuss their experiences at Sarma Melngailis' Pure Food & Wine restaurant.

According to Eater, staff members were compelled to unionize over unpaid salaries, which puts the scenes of people picketing outside the restaurant in the trailer.

Joey Repice, who worked as the beverage director at Pure Food & Wine for ten years, is one of the people featured in the series. Others include Sarma's father, Sarma's sister, Sarma's friend, Sarma's former lawyer, Anthony's associates, Anthony's ex-wife, and Sarma herself.

When interviewing Melngailis for the series, director Chris Smith recalled,

We filmed eight hours and I remember for the first two and a half hours, I wasn’t really convinced that there was anything there.

Melngailis (@sarmamelngailis), also named as the vegan Bernie Madoff in the trailer, is played by Sarma herself and the series is produced by Chris Smith. "What happened to you?" a voice offscreen asks her as she sits for an interview at the end of the trailer.

Here is What the Meat Suit in Netflix's Bad Vegan Means in Real Life

As anyone who has seen the Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives trailer knows a meat suit plays a significant role in the twisted story of former Pure Food and Wine restaurateur Sarma Melngailis and her ex-partner, Anthony Strangis.

The meat suit is introduced in the trailer for the docuseries when former Pure Food and Wine manager Bonnie Crocker says, “Oh no, what’s the meat suit? I’m going to need a minute.”

The meat suit jumps out as one of the curious components in a story with a number of features that can make viewers need a minute. But first, some background: Melngailis was one of New York City's finest chefs when she met Strangis, and he was a mysterious guy she'd met on Twitter.

They were soon inseparable, maybe because Strangis promised Melngailis that he would make her rich beyond her wildest dreams, even guaranteeing that he could make her pet dog, Leon, immortal.

This is where the meat suit enters the scene. Strangis claimed to be non-human, and that the body he inhabited when he and Melngailis met and married was nothing more than a vessel — a meat suit.

Bad Vegan premiered on 16 March 2022, and the show has gained both positive and negative critics.
