The long-awaited spin-off to Amazon Prime's Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla, is now available on Netflix. The series, created by Die Hard's Jeb Stuart, follows the journeys of some of the most renowned Vikings until the 11th century.
In the first episode of Vikings: Valhalla, viewers meet Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), a Greenlander who has come to Kattegat with his sister Freydis (Frida Gustavsson).
Leif Erikson was a great Viking who was born in Iceland and was the son of the founder of Greenland, Erik the Red. Erikson was born around 970 and lived until 1020.
According to the Icelandic sagas, Erikson's discovery of Vinland encouraged other Norse people to undertake the journey, resulting in the establishment of a Norse community at Vinland. Vinland is now known as the coastline region of North America.

Who is Leif Erikson's Wife?
Leif Erikson was regarded as a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and powerful man with a remarkable physical appearance. During his time in the Hebrides, he met his to-be wife (Thorgunna) for the first time.
He later married Thorgunna, a noblewoman who gave birth to their son Thorgils. Thorgils was later transferred to Greenland to serve under Leif, but he was not well received.
While in the court of Olaf Tryggvason, King of Norway, Leif Erikson was converted to Christianity. After Leif's conversion, the king commissioned him to return to Greenland to convert the people there, according to both the Saga of Erik the Red and Olaf Tryggvason's Saga as found in Heimskringla.
He was blown off course throughout the journey and ended up at Vinland before reaching Greenland. Erik, Leif's father, responded angrily to the proposal that he renounce his faith, whereas Thjóhildr, Leif's mother, converted to Christianity and constructed Thjóhild's Church.
A separate version of Olaf Tryggvason's Saga, found in Flateyjarbók, makes no mention of Leif being blown off course and discovering Vinland on his trip back from Norway but does say that after landing in Greenland, the entire country, including Leif's father Erik, was converted.
Leif Erikson's efforts in Greenland, together with that of the priest who accompanied him, would make them the first Christian missionaries to the Americas, predating the travels of Columbus.
Leif was last mentioned alive in 1019, and by 1025, his chieftaincy had been handed down to another son, Thorkell. The sagas make no mention of his demise, thus he most likely died in Greenland between these times. Apart from Thorkell's succession as a chieftain, nothing is known about his family.
Does Leif Erikson Die in Vikings: Valhalla?
In the first season of Vikings: Valhalla, Leif Erikson does not die. Both the first series and the sequel have a strong theme of destiny. Even if numerous individuals reached Vinland 100 years before him in the Vikings' reality, Leif Erikson had a big destiny.
Ubbe Ragnarsson's journey to North America is depicted in Vikings, and he discovers that Floki had been there long before him and his comrades. It will be fascinating to see how Vikings: Valhalla depicts Leif Erikson's voyage while addressing this.

Leif returns to Kattegat after insuring his sister's release, only to find himself in the middle of another fight. Freydis became a shieldmaiden for Jarl Haakon (Caroline Henderson) of Kattegat while battling in England. Now, the city is under siege by the ambitious Olaf Haraldsson and the fanatic Jarl.
Leif understood he was battling for his sister's life in England. He, on the other hand, fails to see why he should be participating in the Kattegat fight. His sister and Liv, his girlfriend, are both fighting for their faith's survival.
Leif Erikson, on the other hand, has lost all faith in the pagan religion. Despite this, he stands by his family. Liv asks him to promise her that he will join her in Valhalla as she dies in his arms. The season finishes on a cliffhanger for Leif.
Olaf is forced to escape shortly after taking possession of Kattegat due to the arrival of Sweyn Forkbeard. Forkbeard's grandkids and Canute's children, Svein and Harold Harefoot are joining their grandfather.
Svein discovers Leif inside a shed in the last seconds of the season. Leif Erikson's berserk nature, which he inherited from his father, has surfaced as a result of his sadness. Leif screams at the boy and frightens him just before the credits begin to roll.
