Netflix has brought back the Viking World in a new age. Vikings: Valhalla begins a hundred years after the events of Vikings took place when tensions between the Vikings and the English royals is at an all-time high and the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and Pagan beliefs.

The show is created by Jeb Stuart. This historical drama has been released on Netflix on February 25.

Cast and Characters of Vikings: Valhalla

Vikings: Valhalla chronicles the beginning of the ending of the Viking Age. Set a century after the events of Vikings, the show follows the journey of notable Viking warriors like Leif Erikson, Freydís Eiríksdóttir, and Harald Hardrada as they travel across oceans and through battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory.

The show stars Sam Corlett as Leif Erikson, Frida Gustavsson as Freydís Eiríksdóttir, Leo Suter as Harald Hardrada, Bradley Freegard as King Canute, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Olaf Haraldsson, Caroline Henderson as Jarl Haakon, Laura Berlin as Emma of Normandy, and David Oakes as Earl Godwin.

Sam Corlett as Leif Erikson

Vikings: Valhalla focuses on the journey of Leif Erikson, son of Erik the Red. Also known as Leif the Lucky, he is believed to have been the first European to have set foot on continental North America, where, according to the sagas, established a Norse settlement at the coastal part of it- aka Vinland.

Even though coming from a tight-knit family with strong Pagan beliefs, he is a sort of an outsider in the show. He grew up in Greenland, on the edges of the known world.

Sam Corlett plays Leif Erikson. Sam Corlett (@samcorlett) is an Australian actor who is mostly known for playing the role of Caliban in  Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

He made his being screen debut in 2020 in a mystery thriller The Dry in the role of Luke Hadler. He was a professional model working for Viviens Models before he started acting.

Frida Gustavsson as Freydís Eiríksdóttir

Freydís Eiríksdóttir is the daughter of Erik the Red and a sister to Leif Erikson. She is exactly the opposite of her brother. While her brother is shy and reserved, Freydís commands everyone's attention with her boldness.

She is fiery and headstrong even when she is an outsider in Kattegat like her brother. She has strong faith in the old gods, which inspires those who are committed to paganism. She is described as a fearless warrior who defied the odds of her society.

Freydís Eiríksdóttir is portrayed by Frida Gustavsson. Frida Gustavsson (@fridagustavsson) is a Swedish actress and model who is mostly known as Visenna, Geralt's mother from The Witcher. She has made several appearances in Swedish television shows and short films.

On the modeling front, she has walked shows for many notable fashion brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, and Versace.

Leo Suter as Harald Hardrada

Harald Hardrada, also known as Harald Sigurdsson, is one of the last remaining Viking berserkers. He is alive with a burning ambition to become the King of Norway. And in that, his test lies for he needs to unite both the Vikings who are still into paganism and those who’ve turned toward Christianity.

Leo Suter plays the role of Harald Hardrada. Leo Suter (@leo.suter), rumored to be gay, is an English actor who has appeared in minor roles in movies like Maleficent, Fallen, and TV shows like Victoria and Sanditon. Bradley Freegard as King Canute "the Great"

King Canute is a savvy, ruthless and ambitious leader who wants the throne of England for himself, which was taken in avenging the murder of Vikings which was ordered by King Aethelred the Unready.

Bradley Freegard portrays the role of King Canute. Bradley Freegard (@bradfreegard) is a Welsh actor who has the most notable roles of Mei Huws in the TV series Gwaith/Cartref and Evan Howells in Keeping Faith. He went to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Olaf "the Holy" Haraldsson

Older half-brother of Harald, Olaf Haraldsson, also known as 'The Holy' is a roadblock in the path to becoming the King of Norway for him. He is a devout Christian which frequently puts him at odds with Pagan warriors and leads him to do horrific deeds. He is truly someone to watch out for.

Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson plays Olaf Haraldsson. Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (@johanneshauku) is an Icelandic actor known for his role as Lem Lemoncloak in the series Game of Thrones and as Steinar in The Innocents. He is also known for playing Yuti Bakhtinin in the film Atomic Blonde and Tau in Alpha.

Caroline Henderson as Jarl Haakon

Jarl Haakon is the ruler of Kattegat, who is surprisingly open and more lenient when it comes to religions. Her city is open to people of all faiths. She becomes a mentor to Freydís.

Caroline Henderson portrays the role of Jarl Haakon. The Vikings: Valhalla alum (@carolinehenderson_official) is a Danish-Swedish artist who is best known for her career in pop and jazz music. She has also appeared in several plays and films.

Laura Berlin as Emma of Normandy

Emma of Normandy is an English queen through her marriage to Aethelred the Unready. She's a savvy leader whose distrust for her stepson Edmund, who takes the throne after Aethelred's demise, drives her to form those plans with the help of Earl Godwin.

Laura Berlin plays Emma of Normandy. Laura Berlin (@laura_berlin) is a German actress and model who has appeared in many German movies like Ruby Red, Sapore di te, and Bullyparade – Der Film. She has also made appearances in several television shows and music videos.

Before she started acting, she used to work as a full-time model and was signed to several famous model agencies from around the world.

David Oakes as Earl Godwin

Earl Godwin is the chief counselor of Emma and Edmund. He doesn't come from a powerful family but comes from a talent for building connections. He is where he is because of his cunning and wit and skill of making powerful allies.

David Oakes portrays the role of Earl Godwin. David Oakes (@doakesdoakes) is an English actor who is mostly recognized for his work in the series The Pillars of the Earth, The Borgias, The White Queen, and Victoria. He has also directed several theatre shows.

He is also an environmentalist and an ambassador for both the Wildlife Trusts and the Woodland Trust, who is known for his discursive Natural History podcast, Trees A Crowd.

Gavin Drea also appears as Eadric Streona, Ealdorman of Mercia, and Asbjørn Krogh plays Jarl Kare, a Christian Berserker. Søren Pilmark and Pollyanna McIntosh portray the role of Sweyn Forkbeard, Canute’s father, and Queen Aelfgifu of Denmark, Canute’s wife respectively.
