Mariska Hargitay's Weight Gain: The Actress Added 54 Pounds During Pregnancy!

While there is not much substance on Mariska Hargitay's weight gain in the present, she previously gained 54 pounds during her pregnancy with her son August Hermann.

Mariska Hargitay is a well-known American actress, who is the latest curiosity of weight gain on the internet. She is most recognized for her portrayal of Lieutenant Olivia Benson of the New York Police Department on the NBC drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Mariska has gathered numerous honors and nominations for her work on the show, including a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe.

Mariska made her cinematic debut in Ghoulies, a 1985 horror-comedy, and her breakthrough television debut in Downtown, a 1986 adventure drama series.

She worked in a number of films and television shows during the late 1980s and 1990s before securing the role of Olivia Benson, which led to her forming the Joyful Heart Foundation, which helps women and men who have been sexually abused.

Previously, we touched on the weight gain story of Alyson Hannigan and Sara Evans.

Mariska Hargitay's Weight Gain History

In a 2007 interview with Self Magazine, the Law & Order: SVU star discussed one of the most difficult aspects of getting pregnant and having a baby. Mariska Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann had given birth to their first child in August of that year, and she spoke about her pregnancy, parenthood, and her battle with gestational diabetes, which contributed to August's high birth weight.

When she found out she was expecting a baby, the actress claimed she was overjoyed. Her work responsibilities, on the other hand, began to make things more difficult. She discussed working 15-hour days and the stress of keeping up with episode schedules, which made her rely on food for comfort.

Mariska Hargitay experienced 54 pounds of weight gain and developed gestational diabetes as a result by the third trimester. She admitted that she overate and that the pregnancy was very hard for her towards the end as a result.

However, the actress determined not to repeat the same mistakes in the future, since she hoped to get pregnant soon. She made certain lifestyle adjustments after August was born, such as attending a gym and eating healthier.

Mariska was also motivated to improve her diet, which helped her lose the excess pounds. She ate a well-balanced diet rich in vegetables and fruits. She was also proud of how far she'd gone, stating that it wasn't only about how she looked, but also how she felt.

Mariska Hargitay Had a Tragic Childhood

Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay gave birth to Mariska Hargitay in January 1964. Mickey was a previous Mr. Universe champion, and Mansfield was a well-known Hollywood actress, thus her parents were no strangers to celebrity.

Her parents divorced in 1963, but their marriage was pronounced meaningless later that year. Hargitay's life was cut short in 1967 when Mansfield died in a vehicle accident. Hargitay, who was in the car with him, received a scar but was otherwise unharmed. Mickey and his then-wife Ellen Siano reared her after that, and she became a mother figure in Hargitay's life.

Mariska Hargitay attended Marymount High School, where she participated in theater, cheerleading, and student government. She had a passion for acting since she was a child, and after graduating from high school in 1982, she enrolled in UCLA's theatre program.

Hargitay followed in her father's footsteps by becoming Miss Beverly Hills USA in 1982 and then competing in the Miss California USA pageant in 1983, where she came in second place. She also attended UCLA's School of Theater, Film, and Television, but dropped out before completing her degree.

Donna was Mariska Hargitay's first role in the 1985 film Ghoulies. She went on to portray lead roles in films such as Welcome to 18, in which she played Joey and Jocks in which she played Nicole. However, her professional path did not change until 1986.
