The one prequel to the Tremors franchise got released in 2020. Tremors: The Series was a television series that ran from March to August 2003. As interesting as the movie gets, the filming locations grabbed the attention of many. So, let's take a look at the Tremors filming locations.

Tremors Filming Locations: Does the Town of Perfection, Nevada Really Exist?

The filming of the first Tremors movie began in early 1989. The filming almost lasted for 50 days. Taken place in Perfection, Nevada with a total population of 14 people, the city gets invaded by a worm-like monster.

The rocky roads, sandy place, and hills! The perfect location to film the movie was kinda hard to find since the draft took almost 6 months to be made as said in an interview Tremors: Making Perfection.

After scouting a lot of different places, the team settled down to shoot the film at Lone Pine, California. The place was chosen largely because of its proximity to Los Angeles as said by Ellen Collet, the associate producer in the interview.

Though the perfect location to shoot the town of Perfection was found, there were many hurdles to overcome. The very few infrastructures provided no shelter for the team to stay. As said by Ginny Nugent, the Line producer, there were no equipment houses or generators, or any other things needed.

About 3 hours from Los Angeles, Lone Pine is one of the popular filming locations. Kevin Bacon says, "It has a tingly, magical essence; that town."

Alabama Hills, Lone Pine in California has been serving as one of the most filmed locations with movies like Gladiator, Iron Man, Man of Steel, and many more being filmed there.

The peculiar forms and hues of the rocky environment of Lone Pine, which is framed by Mount Whitney and other stunning snow-capped peaks, have served as a spectacular backdrop for innumerable Hollywood Old West stories including the classic monster horror comedy Tremors.

The Alabama Hills are a range of hills in terms of geography, although they are geologically part of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

According to MovieSites.org, the Alabama Hills are a protected habitat and managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States, towers several thousand feet above the low range, which itself is 1,500 feet above the Owens Valley floor.

Offering a rugged mountain setting and sparse vegetation, the location was perfect to shoot adventures of monsters, thus being the fictional town of Perfection, Nevada in Tremors.

Some parts of the movie were also shot in Darwin, California since it had an uncanny resemblance to the drafts of the fictional town of Perfection. The town was entirely set since the place had no infrastructure, which was built in Olancha, California. The film's climax also featured the Sierra Nevada and Owens Lake in the background.

What is Tremors All about? Here's All About its Plot, Cast, and Many More!

One of the beloved horror-comedy movies of all time, Tremors has been able to win the hearts of many to this day. Following the story of tired and dull lives of repairmen Val McKee played by Kevin Bacon and Earl Bassett played by Fred Ward who try to skip town, the movie is a rollercoaster of adventures.

The story unfolds as a series of mysterious deaths and a concerned seismologist Rhonda played by Finn Carter arrive to study unnatural readings below the ground.

Following the boring story of the leads who want to escape their uninteresting lives in the lonesome town of Perfection, the arrival of a giant, 30 feet long, ravenously hungry worm-like monster with a huge split, snaky tentacle-tongues that grab victims and suck them down begins the adventure.

Receiving many good reviews over the years, the LA Times reviewed the movie as "a jocular good-time monster film with surprises up its sleeve, set in the clear day, in a desert landscape that seems to stretch endlessly toward the Sierra."

Meanwhile Time Out reviewed the performances by the lead saying, "Bacon and Ward project a wonderful low-key rapport, based initially on jokey ignorance before giving way to terse apprehension"

With a budget of $10 million and a box office collection of $16.7 million, the Tremors franchise can be considered one of the successful monster movies of the 1990s.
